Understanding your EDI Project Planning
Date of Print: October 18, 2018
In order for your Trans Plus TMS to process and manage EDI transactions we have developed a standard EDI module capable of handling the most common transportation document sets. Once installed and configured, it allows for a seamless and intuitive method for processing and managing these transactions.
The concept of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) has existed for some time. As the name implies, data needs to be transferred from one party to the other electronically. In most cases it is not possible for one system to talk to the other system directly. Therefore a VAN (Value Added Network) is often employed to handle the data transformation and transmission between the two parties. Most typically this is accomplished through FTP or a more secure AS2 file transfer protocol. In some cases this is accomplished through the use of API’s or Web Services. Through our integrated solution Trans Plus acts as your VAN and in most cases there is no need for you to maintain accounts with other VAN’s. We establish and manage the required connections specified by your customer. This can be accomplished through their VAN or direct to their own system.
